BCS PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD 2018 - 2019
But, my most important title is Proud Momma to 7th grader and self-proclaimed school philosopher, TJ. If you would have asked me a few years back if I ever saw myself holding a board position on a PTA, I would have scoffed. It wasn't until I arrived at BCS, that I understood the true impact the PTA has on the student body and community. This revelation compelled me to take an active role as Recording Secretary for the 2017-2018 school year.
In addition to serving the BCS PTA, I am a photographer, and previously spent 12 years as a project manager in the Information Technology field.
I am a proud parent of a 7th grader -- Akash. We became a part of the BCS family in 2017. I have been actively involved in volunteering with BCS and a member of the PTA since September 2017. Now, I am a part of the BCS PTA Executive Board as Co-President. I have been currently active in the Real Estate industry for over 8yrs, started a real estate investment company and speak at events incorporating financial literacy. l am a foodie, enjoy traveling and I live to inspire. I look forward to enlightening, supporting, empowering OUR KIDS and PARENTS!
As the incoming Treasurer for the 2018-2019 school year, it will mark the 2nd time I have held the position of a PTA Treasurer -- prior to BCS I held several PTA and SLT board positions, including Treasurer and Vice President at PS 233 in Canarsie. Since 2015 I have been an active member and event volunteer of the BCS PTA. When not attending PTA meetings or events, I am a video and YouTube strategist working with entrepreneurs to gain visibility and exposure for their business. I am married to former PTA Treasurer Howard Clarke, and our son Thomas is a senior this year.
I am looking forward to beginning my new position as PTA Board Co-Treasurer. Joining the PTA last year was a great opportunity to meet other parents and build community. It’s been rewarding to realize how, through fundraising events and advocacy, our collaborative efforts have helped to support BCS in real, substantive ways. My twin boys are beginning 7th grade this year. I’m grateful to see how our school is helping guide them through adolescence and instilling them with strong moral values. As a visual artist who has spent the last 3 years working in NYC public schools, I appreciate how unique and important our school’s progressive educational model is to the city. I feel very fortunate that my family has found a home at BCS.
Bio coming soon...
I am the mom of Eliza, who is a BCS 7th grader. I'm serving on the PTA not just to support Eliza and stay on top of what's going on at school, but because I love the way BCS stands behind our school community and values diversity. I have a lot to learn from other parents here and I'm excited to do so. In my professional life, I'm a writer of young adult and middle grade novels (latest: The Weregirl trilogy) as well as a freelance market researcher and occasional copy writer.
For the past 3 years I have had the honor of being involved with the BCSPTA as either Treasurer or Co-Treasurer. And now, in my final year, looking forward to my new role as Member-at-Large.
