I am a licensed creative arts therapist and licensed clinical social worker who has practiced in the Boston + New York City public school systems, and out-patient mental health clinics for 21 years. I currently serve as a psychotherapist aiding children, families, and individuals. Alongside this, I provide supervision, arts-based inquiry groups, and consultation in building anti-racist institutions and rearing anti-racist children. In addition I’m also an adjunct faculty member at the NYU Silver School of Social Work. A principle that guides my personal and professional journey is ongoing, professional development that includes how our core, cultural beliefs impact learning, relating, growing through conflicts, and the evolution of professional identity. My husband Barry and I have a current ninth grader at BCS.

I am the mom of Eliza, who is a BCS 8th grader. I'm serving on the PTA not just to support Eliza and stay on top of what's going on at school, but because I love the way BCS stands behind our school community and values diversity. I have a lot to learn from other parents here and I'm excited to do so. In my professional life, I'm a writer of young adult and middle grade novels (latest: The Weregirl trilogy) as well as a freelance market researcher and occasional copy writer.

Joining the PTA last year as Co-Treasurer was a great opportunity to meet other parents and build community. It’s been rewarding to realize how, through fundraising events and advocacy, our collaborative efforts have helped to support BCS in real, substantive ways. My twin boys are beginning 8th grade this year. I’m grateful to see how our school is helping guide them through adolescence and instilling them with strong moral values. As a visual artist who has spent the last 3 years working in NYC public schools, I appreciate how unique and important our school’s progressive educational model is to the city. I feel very fortunate that my family has found a home at BCS.

My most important title is Proud Momma to 8th grader and school-proclaimed philosopher, TJ. If you would have asked me a few years back if I ever saw myself holding a board position on a PTA, I would have scoffed. It wasn't until I arrived at BCS, that I understood the true impact the PTA has on the student body and community. This revelation compelled me to take an active role as Secretary in the 2017-2018 school year, and as Co-President the following year.
When I’m not serving the BCS PTA, I am managing IT projects, and running around with a camera in hand as a photographer.
